The Museum of Contemporary Art in Jacksonville, Florida, has hired Ylva Rouse to be its new exhibitions curator. She will begin in her new post immediately.

Rouse is best known for her work in New Orleans, her hometown, where she was part of the founding team of the city’s triennial. Prior to joining Prospect, which launched in 2008, Rouse worked as a director at Javier Lopez Gallery Artspace gallery in Madrid and as a curator at the city’s Museo Reina Sofia.

Rouse was the director of the most recent edition of Prospect, in 2017, which brought together work by 73 artists in over 17 venues across the city. She had previously served as the organization’s deputy director for curatorial affairs. In 2010, as part of Prospect 1.5, Rouse also helped launch a Critical Writing Initiative that partnered with local colleges to implement writing programs dealing with contemporary art.

“Ylva is an highly accomplished professional with a depth of experience in both the global and national contemporary art worlds, as well as leadership in the implementation of strong regional collaborations,” MOCA Jacksonville director Caitlín Doherty said in a statement. “She will serve as a fantastic asset to our organization, and our mission to serve as a premiere destination for cutting-edge contemporary art.”
