The Pérez Art Museum Miami has added pieces by Maria Berrio, Carlos Estévez, Teresita Fernández, Derek Fordjour, Abbas Kiarostami, Hun Kyu Kim, Pierre Malphettes, Christina Pettersson, Anastasia Samoylova, Barthélémy Toguo, and Cecilia Vicuña to its permanent collection.

Among the pieces coming to the institution is Fernández’s large-scale installation Untitled (Crawl Space), which was donated by ARTnews Top 200 Collectors Rosa and Carlos de la Cruz and will figure in the artist’s upcoming retrospective at PAMM.

Toguo’s monumental painting of the history of the Rwandan genocide was donated by Miami collector and real estate developer Jorge M. Pérez, who recently established a $1 million grant program to support local arts and culture and endowed a $50,000 prize at the museum that launched earlier this year.

Vicuña’s installation Quipu Gut (2017), which was shown at Documenta 14 in 2017, and Berrio’s watercolor painting Anemochory (2019) were purchased by the museum’s Collectors Council. PAMM has also acquired Kiarostami’s Sleepers (2001), the late Iranian film director’s first video work, which was shown at the 49th Venice Biennale.

In a statement, PAMM director Franklin Sirmans, said, “Through the support of our donors and the Collectors Council, we are able to expand PAMM’s collection with the work of these exceptionally talented artists.”
