Nel 2020, Paul Tudor Jones \u00e8 stato fra i primi a riaccendere l\u2019interesse degli hedge fund per il Bitcoin e le criptovalute. Nel maggio dell\u2019anno scorso, quando il clamoroso rally delle crypto era solo agli inizi, aveva reso noto il proprio acquisto Bitcoin \u2013 giustificandolo come un valido trade per proteggere il portafoglio dall\u2019inflazione.
\nOra, gran parte degli hedge fund sembra intenzionata ad accrescere le rispettive posizioni sulle criptovalute. Secondo un sondaggio condotto da Intertrust, che ha raggiunto 100 hedge fund cfo, questa categoria di fondi si appresta ad investire in criptovalute il 7,2% del portafoglio entro i prossimi cinque anni. Considerando la dimensione attesa per il comparto, si tratterebbe di un investimento in crypto del valore di 312 miliardi di dollari, ha affermato Intertrust.
\nInoltre, un significativo 17% degli intervistati ha dichiarato che la propria societ\u00e0 potrebbe investire in criptovalute oltre il 10% del suo portafoglio.
\nGestori tradizionali e hedge fund manager: due versioni opposte su Bitcoin
\nQuesto atteggiamento \u00e8 in aperto contrasto con le opinioni dei gestori di fondi pi\u00f9 tradizionali. Appena qualche giorno fa un sondaggio di Bank of America, rivelava che il per l\u201981% dei fund manager, il quello del Bitcoin resta un fenomeno-bolla, anche dopo il brusco crollo di maggio.
\n\u201cPer il momento, gli investimenti in criptovalute rimangono limitati ai clienti che hanno un\u2019elevata tolleranza al rischio e, anche in questo caso, gli investimenti rappresentano in genere una bassa percentuale delle risorse investibili\u201d, hanno affermato Morgan Stanley e la societ\u00e0 di consulenza Oliver Wyman, in un recente rapporto sulla gestione patrimoniale.
\nPer il direttore esecutivo di Quilter Cheviot Investment Management, gli hedge fund \u201csono ben consapevoli non solo dei rischi ma anche del potenziale a lungo termine\u201d delle crypto.
